ahuva s. zaslavsky, Low-Res MFA Visual Studies Candidate '22
open ended:
baby plays peekaboo with her parent. they cover their eyes but leave a crack between fingers. through it they see baby’s expression. eyes so wide open. full of expectation and panic at the same time. here and now she doesn’t know for sure if they will ever come back. but she hopes. in this opening everything can go wrong or be filled with joy. in a moment between opposites lives the great potential for change. baby may learn parent always comes back, and code peekaboo as an event of pleasure. in conditions of trauma what will her coding structure look like? what possibilities are in reconstruction? my work moves in the landscape of:
|remember

|finished
unfinished|
|move

|construct

|repeat

|fragility

|absent

|anguish

between these borders wanders a GOLEM in a raw condition. i play in this space…

this body of work is in progress and part of a larger collection. The work conveys my interest toward the in-between spaces — These can be liminal, uncanny and formless and hold a wide range of possibilities ~ahuvasz
